Additional Information:

Location: KTCEA Schools (Atikameg, Little Buffalo, CJS, EQS & Kateri)

This position is a contract position for the 2024-25 school year (September-June). You
will work closely with the Inclusive Education Manager, Learning Services’ team and the
school Principal to provide family and student support that promotes academic success.

Qualifications:

  • Social Work certificate, diploma or degree
  • Psychosocial training or experience

The Role:

  • Provide (50-60%) - parent engagement, liaison and school bridging activities and supports.
  • Provide (40-50%) targeted emotional and social support for students
  • Collaborate with other services providers for student programming and parent support.
  • Connect students, parents, teachers, and administrators with relevant resources

Responsibilities:

  • Create rapport and connections to the school's parent community.
  • Build initiatives and bridges from school to home.
  • Cultivate open communication between students, families and the school
  • Provide parent education to support successful educational outcomes for their child.
  • Plan and deliver specialized activities and events for students, families and staff
  • Provide psychosocial support to students as needed.
  • Collaborate with school staff and KTCEA service providers by consulting on educational
    and therapeutic programs
  • Working with teachers and the Principal, refer students, caregivers and families to school
    clinical services, community agencies and other supports
  • Coordinate with division and local services for crisis intervention
  • Work with the Inclusive Education Manager, including but not limited to: providing
    monthly reports, attending monthly meetings, submitting monthly invoices with
    deliverables, attending KTCEA or school PD days.

Knowledge of Cree and KTC communities and their values is an asset.
